Elbow Pain With Golfing

Medial epicondylitis also known as golfer’s elbow is when there is pain on the inner part of the elbow. The muscle tendons that attach to the wrist could become damaged. Medial epicondylitis can occur when there is repetitive bending movement of the wrist. Common sports include swinging a golf club or pitching a baseball.

Common causes include:

●      Carrying a heavy suitcase or bag

●      Swinging a golf club

●      Frequent use of hand tools

●      Racket sports

●      Weight training

Symptoms include:

●      Pain along the inner side of the elbow or forearm

●      Pain when bending the wrist towards the palm

●      Pain with gripping

Walnut Physical Therapy can help treat medial epicondylitis or “golfer’s elbow”. An evaluation will be performed by a physical therapist to take measurements of the elbow and wrist. Based on the findings of the initial evaluation, the physical therapist will tailor a treatment program. The treatment program may include flexibility exercises, therapeutic exercises and manual therapy to improve activities of daily life.
